Charles Schultz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA

I’d say just about anyone is going to enjoy this museum. Kids (we have a 6 year-old boy) will love the giant statues…adults will too. And Adults will appreciate seeing Schultz’s creative process.

Big, Fun Statues

There are tons of statues inside and outside the museum:

Charles Schultz Studio

My favorite part of the museum was seeing Schultz’s studio (where he drew):

Schultz did his sketches on yellow pads and threw the drafts away into a waste basket before picking a final sketch. At the end of the day, his assistant took the crumpled ones home and ironed them out. You can now see those old drafts:

Quotes by Charles Schultz

The museum has a handful of quotes by Schultz like these:

Charles Schultz quotes are found throughout the Charles M. Schultz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA

Theatre

There’s a fun theatre at the museum that runs Peanuts cartoons:

Labrynth the Shape of Snoopy’s Head

Outdside the museum is a labyrinth the shape of Snoopy’s head:

Ice Rink Across the Street

Schultz was a hockey player and so the museum has an ice skating rink (called Redwood Empire Ice Arena) across the street

The rink is open to public skating:

Adults (18 & over) $11.00
Juniors (12 to 17) $11.00
Child (11 & under) $9.00
Skate Rental $4.00

…more info is here: https://www.snoopyshomeice.com/public-skating

They have a simple cafe with a great view of the skaters:

Our 6-year old loved the special Snoopy Hot Chocolate:

Outside the Ice rink, there are more fun Peanuts statues and art work:

Tip: Check the calendar ahead of time for special events

Make sure to check out the Schultz Museum Calendar. Today, we lucked out. Liza Donnelly, a cartoonist from New York Magazine, was here signing here book: Very Funny Ladies: The New Yorker’s Women Cartoonists. It was free…part of the Schultz Museum experience — they are cool like this.

This is a slam-dunk place for adults and kids to visit.
